Sonic Colony: The RPG has a story line.
It starts with:
It's a dark and stormy night. Sonic was in the Freedom Fighters' hideout. He was relaxing from all the adventures he had so far. Suddenly there was a knock on the Door of the hideout. Miles "Tails" Prower answered it.
"Sonic, it's Knuckles! He has something important to tell all the Freedom Fighters!" Tails yelled to Sonic.
"Ok, bring him in!" Sonic yelled back to Tails. Knuckles walked in and he went to the room where most of the important announcements were announced. Sonic walked in there after Knuckles.
"I'm quitting the Freedom Fighters," Knuckles told them. The Freedom Fighters gasped.
"But...why?" Princess Sally Acorn asked. "We need you! You're the strongest on our team!" Knuckles ignored Sally.
"I have to leave to protect the Master Emerald," Knuckles continued. "It's too much going back and forth." He ignored the Freedom Fighters pleas and flew back to Angel Island.
That was just the start of the bad things of the Freedom Fighters' mishaps.
